Title:   Personal Lines Department Manager

Experience:  I started in the insurance business in 1981.   I worked at various agencies in New Castle until 1994.   I took a 3 year break to run a business with my husband but soon returned to the insurance business in 1997 when I joined McConnell & Associates as a personal lines service representative.   When Amy began M & M Insurance in 2001, I moved with her to service new clients while continuing to service our existing clients.   I currently service and sell auto and homeowner   insurance to all clients and I oversee the day to day operations of the Personal Lines Department.

Family:  I was born and raised in New Castle and most of my family is still here. I currently live in Neshannock Township with my husband, Doug who I married in 1985 and our three children, Corey, a student at Slippery Rock University, and Jordan and Kenny, both students at Neshannock.   My parents are Tom & Clara Alfano who still reside in Hickory Township.

Designations/Achievements:  I currently hold my Property & Casualty Insurance License, as well as a CISR designation (Certified Insurance Service Representative).   I am working on obtaining my CIC designation (Certified Insurance Counselor).

Special Interests:  I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my husband and kids.  We keep a very active life following the kids to and from various sporting activities including hockey and softball games.  With all that, it doesn't leave much personal time, but I wouldn't trade it for a minute!  I am actively involved in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.  When I do have down time, I enjoy watching the Penquins, Grey's Anatomy, American Idol and ER. 
    


Typical Day of Work?     Usually hectic, but interesting, always something to learn...satisfaction of helping someone with their problems.  Customer service, answering phones, taking payments, quoting, selling, monthly reunderwriting, home re-evaluations, birthday cards and monthly sales reports.

Best-selling insurance product that you talk to most people about & why?     I think all of our products are good - people are usually looking to save the most money on their auto policies so it seems that that is the one we review the most.

What product should most people have, but most don't?     Personal umbrella; life and disability insurance.

What books are you reading right now?     The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch

What would people be surprised to know about you?     That I am a constant worrier

What do you do when you're not selling insurance?     Follow my kids to and from activities - softball and ice-hockey

What one word describes you?     Reliable/Dependable

Who is your role model and what have you learned from him/her?     Jennie Domiano (deceased aunt) - I always looked up to her as she was a very well respected organized, dependable person.  She taught me to see something good in everyone, to be reliable, conscientious of my work, and to love and respect my family.
